The Eiger Avalanche is an all-weather, fully sealed case with an inbuilt screen protector that’s perfect for outdoor adventures where your phone may be subjected to dirt, dust & water as well as drops and knocks. It's also a great option for other activities where your device may be at risk of getting wet or messy such as a day at the beach, cooking or reading in the bath, for example. Being glass free, it's also an ideal, full body case for children and teenagers.

Avalanche has been made to withstand up to 30 minutes of submersible time under water to a depth of 1m/3ft and to handle drops up to 2m/6ft but without the bulk of many rugged cases.

What is an IP rating and what does it mean for the Eiger Avalanche?

An IP, or Ingress Protection rating is a certification proving a product meets a certain standard of water and dustproofing/resistance. Our Eiger Avalanche case has been awarded the IP rating of 68, which is the highest level of protection for everyday cases. The 6 refers to dust and gives the highest level of dust and particle protection, and the 8 refers to water and gives the 2nd highest level of high-pressure water ingress.

What is a MIL-SPEC and what does it mean for the Eiger Avalanche?

MIL-SPEC (defence specification) signifies that something meets a certain Military Standard (MIL-STD) or Military Specification (MIL-SPEC). MIL-SPEC-810G is a US military specification that guarantees a level of durability for a piece of technology. Specifically, it means the equipment has gone through a series of 29 tests. These put the phone up against shock, vibration, heat, cold, gunfire shock, humidity, and more. Avalanche is tested under these standards for water ingress, using test 506.50 for rain protection and test 512.5 for immersion in water.
